What Zest Check Does

Zest Check is a browser extension that enhances Zillow search results by comparing listing prices to Zestimate values, helping users identify potentially undervalued properties.

Data Collection

Zest Check does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

• No account required — no sign-up, no login, no user profiles
• No analytics or tracking — no usage data is collected
• No data sent to our servers — we do not operate any servers

Data Access

Zest Check reads data from Zillow search result pages that are already visible to you in your browser. This includes:

• Listing prices, Zestimates, and property details displayed on Zillow
• Property coordinates (latitude/longitude) from Zillow search results

This data is processed entirely within your browser and is never transmitted to any third party beyond the API calls described below.

Third-Party API Requests

Zest Check makes requests to two public APIs to enhance listing information:

• Walk Score API (api.walkscore.com) — to retrieve walkability, transit, and bike scores for listed properties. Only the property address and coordinates are sent.
• EPA ATTAINS API (gispub.epa.gov) — to retrieve water quality data for nearby lakes on waterfront properties. Only property coordinates are sent.

No personal or identifying information is included in these requests.

Local Storage

Zest Check uses Chrome’s storage.sync API to save your preferences (enabled/disabled state, deal threshold, display settings). These settings sync across your Chrome browsers if you are signed into Chrome, using Google’s built-in sync infrastructure.
